Sheet water jet cutting

Sheet water jet cutting is an abrasive separation technique for shaping sheet. During cutting of metal, an abrasive (grinding powder) is added to the water jet. Under high pressure, the water jet cuts the workpiece with great precision without generating thermal energy or light reflection as is the case with laser cutting, for instance. Thus the process is suitable for temperature-sensitive materials. It can be used without any problems to cut laminates, reflective materials, and hardened steel.

Sheet water jet cutting – the advantages

The water jet cutting separation method allows thin cut edges and tight tolerances. High part density and optimal use of raw material is thus guaranteed. It is easy on the material being processed, and feathering be eliminated as early as the manufacturing process. Non-metallic materials such as laminated plastic can be processed with a water jet without toxic emissions.
